PENTA At The First RFID Conference

06th-07th May, 2014.

At the Westin Hotel in Zagreb was held the first regional RFID conference "Back to the Future" organized by the company Selmet Ltd. with cooperation of the main partner GS1 organization, all under the main auspices of the HUP (Croatian Employers Association).

The whole event was divided into two conference days, where the first day was characterized by the general contents regarding the types, application and use of RFID technology, but also by presentation of european experts such as Dr. Doody, president of RFID Europe, Enzo Blonk, GS1 Europe, Aleksander Peterlik, GS1 Austria, Stephan Piquet, one of the world's largest RFID consultants, while the second day was marked by presentations of entrepreneurs - exhibitors of RFID solutions applied in Croatia.

With prominent names like Motorola, NordicID, Impinj, CaenRFID, Selmet, Infokod, Špica, one of the sponsors - exhibitors was also company PENTA with an interesting presentation "RFID CITY CARD - cities identification card", presentation focused on implemented IT solutions in public transport (Pulapromet Pula, GPP Osijek...), parking payment (Rijeka Promet, Pula Parking...), user identification in libraries (Rijeka City Library, University Library of Rijeka), access control at sport facilities, ticket control for museums, theaters and other events, payment of communal services (City of Rijeka), city loyalty program (Tower Center Rijeka), but also presentation had a brief overview to application of NFC solutions (GPP Osijek) and public bike sharing system (Istraturist Umag, City of Koprivnica). In the exhibition hall were also presented devices and equipment of the before mentioned solutions.

The fact is that RFID is not a new concept, it`s being used since a pretty long time ago. The use of RFID technology improves business operations and ensures reliable data collection and analysis, but also will inevitably continue to spread in different area of our society.

Although this was the first regional RFID conference, the response of participants was truly exceptional, and from the next year conference we expect even more exhibitors, presentations with practical examples and a greater range of products presented in the exhibition hall.
